Max's Birth Day!

I'm finally getting around to updating our blog!

We were scheduled to be induced on Monday, May 18th and I had instructions to call the hospital at 5 am to find out if there was a bed available. A nurse from the hospital called on Sunday to do our pre-admit and informed me that there were 4 inductions set for Monday and we were 3rd on the list! Needless to say, I was very disappointed thinking we may have to wait in line (by this point I was sooo ready to see my sweet little boy).

Well, evidently Max didn't want to wait in line either, because at around 3:30 Monday morning I woke up and ran to the bathroom. I had never had to pee so bad in my life. I thought I was peeing all over myself and quickly realized my water had broken. I woke Tim up and told him and he was dressed and ready to leave in 5 minutes flat. (For those of you who know Tim, that has probably never happened before and probably won't ever again). I called the doctor and she said, "Come on in." Tim called my mom and mom called Nikki (my sister) and we were on our way.

We took the cruiser and I don't even want to know how fast we were going! By the time we got to the hospital (4:15), I was in quite a lot of pain. I got right in and was in a bed, IV started and epidural administered within a half an hour. My nurse said she was sure it was a record! I was VERY greatful!!! The funniest thing was that my sister, who lives in Taylorsville, got to the hospital shortly after I had gotten my epidural and before my parents. She was so excited and scared to death it would go really fast and she would miss it all. (I got to the hospital literally 5 minutes before she started pushing when she had her third child, my niece). Mom and dad arrived shortly after that and we pretty much just hung out for about an hour, then dad left to go get the "big brothers". Once they got there, I was ready!

We all rested a little in my room and then mom, dad and Nikki decided to go out and get some lunch. About 15 minutes after they left, my nurse came in to check me and I was 5 centimeters dilated. I called and told them the news and not to hurry, but I just wanted to keep them updated. About 10 minutes later they came walking back in the room. Nikki knew from her own experience that things could move quickly, and boy did they ever!

Max was born at 12:38 pm after pushing through only 3 contractions! He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and measured in at 20 1/4 inches. My mom, my sister and Tim were there to welcome him and it was love at first sight for us all! He has the most wonderful, full head of black hair and he looks just like his Daddy - absolutely gorgeous!

Bryson, Brayden and dad came in shortly after he arrived and the boys instantly took on the big brother roles. They are so amazing with him, it warms my heart!

When they took me to my room, everyone else went to the nursery to watch Max get washed up. I was informed they washed his hair 4 times and he loved it - not making the first peep the whole time. Dad loved that she then brushed his hair "like he was getting ready for a date". I told him he was - "a date with his Momma!"
This is Max's first picture at home!
